Felix Doege studied East Asian Economics and Politics (B.A.) and East Asian Politics (M.A.) with a focus on Japan at Ruhr University Bochum. Internships took him to the German Embassy in Tokyo, the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) in Hamburg, and the political news section of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). After working in the accounting and finance department of a Japanese trading company in Düsseldorf, he returned to Ruhr University Bochum as research associate and PhD candidate. In his PhD project, Mr. Doege examines the financial market governance of cryptocurrencies in Japan. Besides his main research focus on Japan’s political economy and financial markets, he is also interested in and working on energy-related topics, especially energy security and climate change. Together with his colleagues Diana Schnelle and Johanna Rust, he carried out an externally funded research project on energy transitions in Germany and East Asia.
