Conference: What are the challenges and opportunities for the Unified Korea?

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea Bonn Office organised an international seminar in cooperation with Korean Institute for National Unification (KINU) under the theme, ‘What are the challenges and opportunities for the Unified Korea.’

Distinguished experts and scholars form South Korea, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium participated in the two sessions of the event. The opening seminar featured keynote was addressed by Yu-Hwan Koh, President of Korean Institute for National Unification (KINU) (read by Dr. Dongho Han). Follow by the welcoming words by Seungjae Huh, Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Bonn Office. Finally, remarks by Johannes Pflug, Former Member of Parliament.

 

 

Ms Mireia Paulo, CEAC’s Head of Management, was invited to the panel discussion, where she has the opportunity to discuss with guests and speakers about peace process and security risks, such as cybersecurity. Ms Paulo also highlighted the new Digital Partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Korea launched on 28 November. During this event, the opening seminar featured keynote was addressed by H.E. Erik Solheim, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), H.E. Mr. Cao Zhongming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Belgium, Ambassador (ret.) Piet Steel, Chairman of the Europe-Asia Center, Mr. Chu Ziyu, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and prof. Greg Richards, a leading expert in the field of cultural and creative tourism.
