Felix Doege placed a research note
Felix Doege placed a research note in the upcoming issue of ASIEN – The German Journal on Contemporary Asia. “Who Is Driving Financial Market Governance of Cryptocurrencies in Japan? Actors and Institutions behind Japan’s FinTech Revolution” (forthcoming) sheds light on a little-explored field. Although Japan tends to lag behind in many areas of digitalization, both government and private actors have managed to shape rapid institutional change in recent years in order to improve conditions for FinTech startups and modernize established financial players. The repercussions these developments have on Japan’s financial market governance, both in general and with regards to cryptocurrencies, are being elaborated upon by the author. Felix Doege thereby contributes to research on continuity and change of Japan’s political economy and governance processes of financial digitalization.
